I visited a new eye doctor today to have my eyes checked. I have astigmatism and my eyes have been disappointing at supporting particular job functions (not the Blog, my paid job), so I checked out a new one. If you know me and/or have been around this Blog for a bit, you should sign up under followers - just added on the righthand side, and you won't be surprised to learn that I surfed the web for free trial contacts certificates on the eve of my appointment.
I found a lot of them! I even found entire blogs/sites dedicated just to making vision correction affordable, so I printed every trial contacts certificate I could find. At the appointment today, the doctor told me that every contacts fitting comes with trial contacts and handed my stack of papers (printed with ink more expensive than most things in our culture) back to me without much notice. She also gave me 2 sets of trial contacts.
I have been wearing glasses and contacts for decades, literally, and had NOT been given trial contacts most of the time . . . I learned a couple of things - ask for samples/trials from your doctor (preferably before using lots of ink & paper), and if they don't offer them, get the certificates and/or find a different doctor. I mean, really, shouldn't they let you see if the contacts are going to work for you before you buy a year's supply? Just one more way I'm learning through trial and error . . .
