I took our dogs to the vet yesterday & I always dread the bill. The dogs are worth it, but I can think of a lot more fun ways to spend that money. We don't board our dogs, and they aren't professionally groomed, so we're able to go without some of the recommended vaccinations intended for more socially active dogs :-) If that describes your pet, ask about the vaccinations & skip the ones that your pet isn't at risk for - it adds up.
Frontline is the flea & tick protection we've always had recommended to us by vets. Last year, I tried BioSpot on our dogs & it worked well for us. Our dogs spend a little time in a fenced yard & are not at great risk, so we don't need heavy duty. My parents' dog didn't do well with alternative treatment & they went back to Frontline, but BioSpot is much cheaper. I'll be ordering it soon, but last year, I went in through eBates (click the link on this page for that) and looked for pet coupon codes, etc. I was able to get a deal through a coupon code there, and got cashback. We ended up buying BioSpot through PetSmart last year after clicking through eBates, and that saved us quite a bit. Check it out if you're interested, and enjoy some great pet-company on your spring walks.
