This may not be true of everyone, but for our family, it totally works! We got rid of cable long ago, in an effort to live with less monthly expense. The result was fewer bills in the mail, and more use of the library for movies, but also a growing collection of movies at home. Last December, I signed up for a free trial of Netflix through Swagbucks and got a whole bunch of amazon.com credits for trying it for a mont, fully intending to cancel it. However, we also got a Wii for Christmas as a family - Dave & I for workout options, and we got Club Penguin for the kid, as well as Nick Fit (featuring Dora, Diego, etc.). Since we already had a wireless router (and I have one available for the best offer, BTW - works great, but no longer needed), we hooked Netflix up to the Wii. The current base package is $7.99 plus tax for unlimited streaming (no DVDs). If you stream that through your Wii or internet-capable TV (like my parents do), etc, you can watch seasons of shows and/or movies. Our family of 3 can be watching 3 separate things at once on the one subscription, and there are no commercials. Not seeing commercials is worth the entire deal, in my opinion, but it's not the only benefit. Not seeing the commercials, means we desire to spend less because we are not tempted by those who spend lots to lure us in. We also feel like we need fewer DVDs, and have sold some - second spin is an excellent option, and linked on this page. If you think it might work for you, give it a try - Netflix is a month-to-month thing. Sign up through Swagbucks (and my referral so I get the same first 1000 points you do, please) if you're going to try Netflix and it ends up being cheaper than free for the first month!!
