My husband and I went grocery shopping together yesterday & saved $150! It was great! Now, keep in mind that includes an extra 5% off coupon from having prescriptions filled at Target & 5% off the balance that gets put on our redcard (which comes in credit or debit options). We also needed stocking up - I'm still recovering from a neck injury and we had run out of a lot. We were still thrilled.
Several people tried to get in line behind us to have us warn them that we tak a while. More than one gratefully chose a different line. Then, a man stayed and watched intently. He said he was really impressed that we could do all that (which was before we knew our savings). He asked how we did it, I told him about this blog & he wrote it down. He was more anxious than anyone to hear what the total savings was - we are excited to share that with anyone interested, so it was really fun - like a little party :-). Believe it or not, this kind of thing happens to me pretty regularly. My husband got embarrassed the first couple of times we headed in with copious amounts of coupons. After he saw the savings from a trip on his own, he was ecstatic & has been raving about the idea ever since. People see you living differently, see the benefit & want to emulate it. What higher compliment is that. I'd love to help decrease the national debt. Without any governmental control, I'll focus on helping people who interested to decrease their debt/expenditure - close enough!
I'd like to remind people that different parts of the country have better deals different places. If you're a Walmart kind of area, check out DealSeekingMom.com - she's fabulous. In our area, Target rocks! If you're in a Target area, remember that you can use one Target AND one manufacturer's coupon on each item you buy. They also reimburse you a nickel for each bag you use. Sounds very minimal, until you fill two carts, so take advantage of free reusable shopping bags everywhere - they are all over the place, so just keep them one at a time. If you can't be bothered with bulk, Bath & Body works sells small, plastic-shopping-bag-sized shopping bags that get very compact and are super cute.
Have a great Mother's Day weekend!!
